BREAKTHROUGH COACHING
Mary L. Waterhouse MA, RC

Creating An Authentic Life

It takes a great deal of courage to recognize that we truly want to work on our issues or concerns. It takes even more courage to do something about it. The fear around taking the first step can be compounded by the confusion around who to actually call. I encourage people to talk with several coaches and councelors before making their decision.

To facilitate this process with individuals who call me, I offer a free thirty minute conversation so that I can ask questions about their needs, and they can ask me about my work. In most cases, people begin the process of the work just by making that first call.

Individuals

Individuals

Many of us are blind to, or afraid to look at our own issues. We actually believe that seeing them will cause more pain. Unfortunately, when we don't look inside of ourselves, we tend to blame much of our misery on other people or situations. This actually prolongs our unhappiness and often causes us to make the same mistakes over and over.

There are other options. For example, through a coach/client partnership, we can actually begin to do the work that shatters our personal fears about issues. Our minds are then free to explore the unlimited possibilities that are available to us. Through this mental freedom, we can learn how to create solutions and generate strategies for personal success and happiness. In the end, it is up to us. In the context of a two hour session you can gain tools that can be applied to all areas of life.

Couples

Couples

When we blend our lives with another person, we will inevitable notice differences in beliefs and values. This can be a source of conflict. Although we each have our own opinions and points of view, we only complicate matters more when we self righteously believe that someone is right and the other person is wrong. The reality is that we merely have differences.

In coaching sessions we can begin the journey of self discovery and the realization that all points of view are valid (even if we don't agree with them). We can develop conversations about our relationships that include clarity, a desire for negotiation rather than being right, which leads us to a deeper level of authenticity and integrity between ourselves and others.

Mary's commitment to assisting others in creating lives that actually work, is exemplified through her wedding and commitment ceremonies. Couples experience a challenging and creative process through thought provoking questions and Breakthrough sessions prior to the ceremony. As a result, both individuals discover aspects of themselves and the other person that enhances the relationship. The creation of vows often are born from these sessions.

Families

The majority of families today are in a state of overwhelm. We have demanding schedules for ourselves and our children; we are blending families from different backgrounds; and never seem to have enough time for ourselves much less for quality family time. Many parents feel unappreciated, while children feel misunderstood.

In family sessions, a non-directive approach honors everyone's point of view. When this is accomplished, each person feels heard and all members can eventually achieve self awareness and mutual respect. As a result, family members have the opportunity to choose creative ways of interacting and re-focusing on the priorities they all share.
